Semen Pruni
DESCRIPTION：Semen Pruni Ovoid, 5~8 mm long, 3~5 mm in diameter. Externally yellowish-white
or pale brown, one end acute, and the other end obtuse, with a
linear hilum on the edge of the acute end and a dark-coloured
chalaza at the centre of the obtuse end from which many vascular
bundles extend upwards. Testa thin, cotyledons 2, milky white,
oily. Odour, slight; taste, slightly bitter.
Daliren 6~10 mm long, 5~7 mm in diameter, externally
yellowish-brown.
Effects：
To relax the bowles, to subdue the upward qi, and to cause
diuresis.
Stagnancy of undigested food with abdominal distension and
constipation; weakness and edema of the legs with oliguria.

To treat constipation due to dryness of the intestine and lack of

by diarrhea. Note that this drug is widely used to treat food
stasis and stagnation of qi.

by the presence of expectoration.
